Capistrano Beach Park is one of my favorite spots along the Dana Point coastline. Whether I’m meeting clients for a casual coffee by the sand, enjoying a sunset walk, or watching families play volleyball on the beach, this stretch of shoreline captures everything I love about our community. If you’ve explored our Capistrano Beach neighborhood guide, you already know this area blends a laid-back vibe with some of South Orange County’s most desirable oceanfront real estate.

A Local Gem Along the Coast

Located at the south end of Dana Point, Capistrano Beach Park offers wide sandy beaches, a grassy picnic area, basketball courts, and a walking path that hugs the shoreline. It’s a rare spot where you can enjoy both an active day outdoors and a peaceful oceanfront sunset in one visit.

The park is especially popular with locals on weekends, when beach volleyball tournaments, family barbecues, and paddleboarders fill the scene. There’s also convenient parking, restrooms, and easy access to the sand—making it a go-to for both residents and visitors.

Why Locals Love Capistrano Beach Park

  • Perfect for morning walks or jogs along the oceanfront path
  • Beach volleyball and basketball courts for friendly games
  • Picnic tables and grassy areas for family gatherings
  • Close to Dana Point Harbor for dining and boating
  • Prime viewing for spectacular Pacific sunsets
Pro Tip: Arrive an hour before sunset with a blanket and snacks. You’ll get the best light for photos and a front-row seat to one of the most beautiful shows on the coast.
